[edit]I have requested a high res logo from the project:

Darwine.png
[edit]Image:Darwine.png was added to this article on August 2006 according to the Article History, however, according to the File History at Image:Darwine.png, the file was uploaded in December 2006. Does this mean a link was created before the file was actually uploaded? Also, it appears that Image:Hexley.png was uploaded before Darwine.png, and they are both the same file with the same checksum, so I'll be filing an WP:IFD. I think the Darwine project actually uses a Hexley holding a glass of wine instead of a trident. —Tokek 09:14, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I don't think that the trident version is specific to this program. But the logo does make me concerned about using it... Althepal 04:01, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Programs
[edit]How do you install and open programs using Darwine? I mean, does it just tell the computer to open with Darwine every time there is a non-Mac OS file type that was clicked? Althepal 04:01, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- I assume it works like Wine on linux. You can either explicitly start an application from the command line, or the desktop manager can trap the appropriate MIME types and execute files when you doubleclick them. 129.128.210.68 19:28, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Is Darwine dead?
[edit]Is this project still under development? Its website seems not to have changed in a year and the last public build is from December 2006. --EvilMonkeySlayer 09:51, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
See the unofficial builds, updated in early December 2007: http://thisismyinter.net/?p=29 137.99.115.248 (talk) 16:28, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
I think it's been revived, with the release of Wine 1.0 last week. Darwine 1.0 I belive it is at http://thisismyinter.net/?p=47 So....I guess this page needs updating? I can do it if no one wants to.Breaker475 (talk) 17:01, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- The name Darwine at least is dead; kronenberg who was one of the main people updating it now simply calls it WINE because as of May 29, 2009 he stated "As some might have read on Wine-Devel, Darwine is dead for good". If anyone can fine a reliable reference for this we can put that in the article.--BruceGrubb (talk) 20:00, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Winesweepmac.gif
[edit]Image:Winesweepmac.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Newer screenshots
[edit]The screenshots of windows programs are looking a tad bit dated. Anyone mind if I replace them with say screenshots of more recent windows software on Darwine 0.9.60 on top of Leopard? —Preceding unsigned comment added by EvilMonkeySlayer (talk • contribs) 12:25, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe it would be best to put up images from both Tiger and Leopard; Darwine is capable of running on both platforms and they're both Mac OS X. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.80.170.118 (talk) 00:24, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Mistakes?
[edit]I was just wondering what 'mistakes' i made that had to be corrected. The only change that i could view was rearranging the download links so one was above the other as well as adding vagueness as to which version works best with which OS. Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong though. 69.80.162.72 (talk) 06:11, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- You specifically said that the link to http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/ was for tiger builds only and you continue to do so. Please stop editing others edits with incorrect information. --EvilMonkeySlayer (talk) 21:24, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- I said that of the two builds, the kronenberg link works best with Tiger. The latest builds from thisismyinter.net don't work with Tiger. Sorry for trying to be specific and clear for users. 69.80.162.72 (talk) 01:15, 28 April 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.80.170.118 (talk)
RFC: Official Darwine?
[edit]Neither builds from http://thisismyinter.net/ nor http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/ are the official version yet in a rev from Breaker475 http://thisismyinter.net/ has been classed as the official version. This isn't true in any sense and is against (I believe) wikipedia guidelines. While I agree the old project appears dead neither of the unofficial builds are official in their capacity.
I think perhaps either the site address needs changing back to its original or the site address is removed altogether.
There's also the total lack of any citation at all. Frankly, I think this article should be rewritten from scratch.
That or the guys who make the unofficial builds need to team up and make a new official Darwine build or some such, so we can link to an official source at the least. --EvilMonkeySlayer (talk) 11:40, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay, my bad. I put thisismyinter.net as the official since I was redirected there from the Wine main site, winehq.org. In any case, I agree to a total rewrite of this. Breaker475 (talk) 14:56, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
External link to Google Code
[edit]The link to the Google Code repo for Darwine returns a 404 error. Shouldn't it be removed? sydbarrett74 (talk) 15:37, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
